A bale full of hay is not baleful
Unless maybe it is lit on fire with a Halloween
costume on top
Foreshadowing
The doom of what is to come
If you continue past it
A bail full of water
That you are hauling out of a boat
Is potentially a baleful scene
If the boat is sinking
And around the boat
You see a large fin
Cutting through the water
And behind the fin
Storm clouds are swallowing sky
The way the sea is swallowing your skiff
And the way that shark is soon to swallow you
Menancing and sinister are somewhat
Interchangeable adjectives
The difference is that
If you put them all in a scale
Baleful holds more weight
It triggers a deeper evil
Closer to core
Perhaps even
Supernatural
wickedness
Thus
It
Is
Best
expressed
in poetry
And
in prose
Through literary devices
On pages of paper
And hopefully not
During Your next nautical
Expedition
